NIE/Residencia

How do I get a NIE number and what is it for?

The NIE Number (Foreign Identification Number) is the number they give you to be able to identify yourself as a foreigner, whatever nationality you are, different from the Spanish

The NIE is used to open a bank account in Spain, to buy a house or to buy a vehicle. Among other things.

To get the NIE number you must get an appointment at the immigration police. Along with your passport, the application and the payment of the fee, you must go in person to the police and they will give you the original document with the assigned NIE number.

In the case of the NIE, if you cannot attend in person, you can give power of attorney to whoever you wish to present and collect the NIE on your behalf.

It is important to note that NON-European citizens must prove that they have been in Spain for less than 3 months with an entry stamp in their passport and a copy of their return ticket.

On the other hand, It is possible to apply for your Spanish NIE numbers in the UK, it is more expensive and does take more time, and you will need to go in person to the Spanish embassy either in London, Manchester or Edinburgh.

How do I get a Resident/ Green card / TIE and what is it for?

If you were already a resident before Brexit, you will have a green card or green paper. This way, proving that you still have income and healthcare, you will be able to make an appointment for fingerprinting and get a TIE (mandatory for NON-EU citizens).

How do I get a EU Certificate and what is it for?

The procedure for European citizens is somewhat simpler than for non- EU citizens.

Once you have gathered all the necessary documentation, you will need to make an appointment at the immigration police. Our service includes the preparation of all the documentation, from filling out the form and preparing and paying the fee to taking you personally to the corresponding police office.

On the same visit to the police office, you will get your GREEN CARD

In order to get a green card, you must prove that you have enough money to be able to reside in Spain. In addition, you must have a way to receive health care (S1, special agreement, private insurance…).

We have a lot of experience with these issues and have dealt a lot with the requirements of the immigration police. We will advise you in the most real and reliable way.

* Please note that appointments may take time to become available. But it's always best to have everything prepared in advance.
