Driving in Spain

Can I drive in Spain with my Driving Licence?

Before driving in Spain, you should first find out if you can drive with your original licence.

If you are a NON-RESIDENT, as long as your vehicle is in order and you do not exceed the permitted number of days of stay, you can drive with your licence without any problem.

If you are a RESIDENT, you must exchange your driving licence, as long as your country is on the list of countries with an agreement. If it is not on the list, you must obtain a new licence.

Your licence is only valid for a maximum of six months after you have acquired normal residence in Spain.

What do I need to buy a vehicle in Spain?

The first thing you will need to buy a vehicle in Spain is a NIE Number.

We recommend that when you generate the NIE, you open a bank account in Spain, as it will facilitate the buying or selling process.

Once you have found the car of your dreams, if it is from a dealer, they are usually the ones who will arrange the change of ownership. If the vehicle is owned by a private individual, we can help you to put the car into your name and notify the Spanish Traffic Department.

You can also count on us if you wish to sell your vehicle.

Whether you need to change the address on your driving licence and vehicle, check and pay fines or apply for a duplicate, we can help you.
